Arabic Gum - Edible gum

Arabic Gum is also known as “Goo-nd”, Acacia or Indian gum. It is translucent and transparent in appearance. It comes from a tree name Acacia Senegal. It is a magical tree that produces edible gum through its trunk and branches. About 50% of world’s Arabic gum comes from Sudan now. The adverse condition of a tree like dry roots, poor soil and high heat tends to produce the edible gum.

It is used on industrial level in confectionery products. It is used to maintain and stabilize the products texture like desserts, syrups, soft candies, jellies, cosmetics products, herbal and medical pills, paper stamps and gels. It is also used in making variety of soft drinks, M & M , for icing and in artificial oils. The edible gum has pre-biotics properties and a good soluble fiber which aids in digestion and keep the gut flora healthy. It is so beneficial in treating Inflammatory bowl syndrome and chronic constipation.
